Description

Posture: Keeping Life in Balance is an 8-hour continuing education course presented by Dr. Jeffrey A. McKinley, DC, CCSP, FICC, designed to help clinicians enhance patient outcomes through improved understanding of posture, biomechanics, and functional movement. This course explores the critical role posture plays in musculoskeletal health, pain management, and performance. Attendees will develop a comprehensive approach to evaluating and addressing postural imbalances using orthopedic and neurological testing, foot scanning, x-ray biomechanics, and targeted therapeutic exercise protocols.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the burden and impact of musculoskeletal pain on patients and healthcare systems.

  • Conduct detailed orthopedic and neurological exams in various positions (standing, sitting, prone, supine).

  • Analyze foot scan data and correlate findings with biomechanical function and x-ray evaluations.

  • Develop evidence-informed plans of care that integrate postural assessment findings.

  • Apply the five core posture principles and posture zone concepts to clinical evaluations.

  • Integrate corrective strategies including balance training, alignment drills, and mirror-based therapeutic exercises to improve postural stability and performance.

Jeffrey A. McKinley, DC, CCSP, CKTP, CPEP, FICC

Dr. McKinley is a 1989 graduate of Logan College of Chiropractic. He did his undergraduate studies at David Lipscomb College where he received his BS in Biology and Chemistry. He has continued is post-doctorate education and is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP), Certified Kinesio Tape Practitioner (CKTP), certified in Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Certified Posture Exercise Professional (CPEP), and certified in the Graston Technique for soft tissue treatment. He is a past president of the Tennessee Chiropractic Association and was the Chiropractor of the Year for TN in 2005. He is a member of the Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee for Tennessee, a member of the ACA’s Medicare Committee, and has lectured to chiropractic physicians and staff on Medicare issues. He also was an instructor for the Certified Therapy Assistants training course, and is a contributing author to the recently published text book Chiropractic Therapy Assistant: A Clinical Resource Guide. Most recently he was honored as a Fellow of the International College of Chiropractors (FICC).

In practice since 1990 in McMinnville, TN, he is the clinical director of Middle Tennessee Spine & Joint, a multi-disciplinary practice that includes chiropractic, medical, physical therapy, and massage therapy.

Active in his community, he has served as the president of the Chamber of Commerce, president of the Breakfast Rotary club, assistant Governor for Rotary District 6780, PTO president at the Middle School, and president of the Warren County High School PTO. He has served on the board of the Warren County Youth Baseball Association, and is currently serving on the board of directors of the McMinnville Electric System.
